Hand over computer screen

The Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR) gGmbH endeavours to make the website https://www.lir-mainz.de accessible without barriers. The legal basis is the State Law on Equality for Disabled Persons (LGGBehM) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance of Rhineland-Palatinate (BITV-RP).

This declaration was prepared on 30.09.2021.

Status of compatibility with the requirements of the BITV-RP

This website is largely compatible with the BITV-RP. Accessibility was verified in an independent WCAG test in June 2021.

The following content is only accessible to a limited extent. An improvement of accessibility is planned in the near future.

  • The texts on the main contents of the offer, on navigation and on the accessibility statement are not yet available in plain language. This means that these pages are not compatible with the success criterion of WCAG 3.1.3 (unusual words), 3.1.4 (abbreviations) and 3.1.5 (reading level).

  • The texts on the main contents of the offer, on navigation and on the accessibility statement are not yet available in German sign language. These pages are therefore not compatible with success criterion 1.2.6 (sign language).

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with BITV-RP

  • The navigation is partially only fully operable with the mouse and thus does not fully meet success criterion 2.1.1 (keyboard).

  • Basically, areas of the page are not skippable (neither ARIA landmark regions, nor a jump link, nor sufficient headings above each content section) (success criterion 2.4.1).

  • Document titles do not reflect the content of the individual web pages, but are uniformly "LIR Mainz - Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research" (success criterion 2.4.2).

  • Occasionally, PDF documents may not be accessible

The following content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation:

  • Recorded time-based media published before 23 September 2020.

  • Live broadcast time-based media.

Disproportionate burden

Our embedded videos are published on the YouTube video platform. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos. As a result, WCAG success criterion 1.2.5 (audio description recorded) is not met. We believe that remediation would impose a disproportionate burden under the accessibility regulations. We plan to provide text alternatives for time-based media in place of audio descriptions in the near future.
