Book a Scientist on September 29, 2026

On September 29, 2026, the Leibniz Association hosted its science speed-dating event “Book a Scientist.” Through free, virtual 25-minute one-on-one conversations, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with researchers, ask questions, and gain insights into current research projects.

Among the 124 topics offered, two research groups from the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR) were also represented:

Professor Janina Hesse offered conversations on the topic “Stress Resilience in Artificial Networks.” A total of three participants took part in her individual sessions, gaining insights into the study of resilience dynamics at the intersection of mathematical modelling, machine learning, and medicine.

Professor Sarah Schäfer focused on the topic “Mental Health in Challenging Times – Why Do Most People Remain Resilient?” Three participants took the opportunity to discuss mental health and resilience with her.

The event provided an opportunity to make scientific findings accessible to a wider audience and promote direct dialogue between research and society.
