Team Spirit in Mainz: LIR at the Corporate Run
Nine employees from the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR) took part in this year’s company run on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
Even before the race began, the lively atmosphere was evident as the LIR team, already in high spirits, made its way to the starting area. The runners tackled the 5-kilometer course through Mainz. In addition to the main streets, the route also led through small, sometimes unfamiliar corners of the city, offering not only team-building and physical activity but also new perspectives on the city.
The runners’ arrival at the finish line was met with cheers from the spectators, and afterwards, they were able to refresh themselves with cold drinks and catch their breath at the after-run party.
The number of runners this year was particularly impressive, setting a new record of over 12,280 participants, according to Magenta Event GmbH. The LIR team is pleased to have been a part of this record.
The event provided a great opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening together, and it strengthened the sense of community among the participating companies. The charitable contribution of one euro per person also supported organizations such as DKMS and several regional sports clubs. As an institute dedicated to resilience, the LIR is particularly pleased by the great enthusiasm for physical activity that is evident every year at the company run. Since regular exercise can positively contribute to resilience, perhaps it’s worth starting to prepare for next year’s Corporate Run with the occasional jog.
The LIR team looks forward to participating again next year.
