How can a mentally healthy and dynamic society be realized? The German-Japanese funding initiative ‘Moonshot program’ is researching this topic
The German-Japanese cooperation ‘Moonshot program’ was officially launched on Monday with a joint workshop at the LIR. Science Minister Clemens Hoch welcomed the researchers from Japan and their teams and recognized the importance of the research cooperation and its contribution to science and society.
As part of the Japanese funding initiative Moonshot program, Prof. Til Ole Bergmann, Prof. Oliver Tüscher and Prof. Michèle Wessa from the LIR are conducting research in close cooperation with Prof. Ken Tsutsui from Tohoku University Sendai and Prof. Makiko Yamada from the University of Tokyo on the Japanese government's Moonshot Goal No. 09: to ‘achieve a mentally healthy and dynamic society by increasing well-being and vitality by 2050.’ The Moonshot program was launched by the Japanese government in 2020 and aims to develop solutions for major socially relevant issues in 9 sub-projects over a 30-year time horizon.
The selection of the LIR as a cooperation partner for the prestigious Moonshot program is proof of the high international visibility of the institute and recognition of the scientific excellence of the LIR in the field of mental resilience research.
Further information on the Moonshot program can be found in the published press release.
