Strengthening resilience through free online training – Presentation of the resiLIR program during the visit of State Secretary Nicole Steingaß
On October 22, 2025, Nicole Steingaß, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science and Health of Rhineland-Palatinate, visited the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR). The visit focused on gaining practical insights into the institute’s initiatives to strengthen public health literacy and to develop strategies for stress management and resilience promotion.
The Team Platform Transfer, represented by Dr. Isabella Helmreich and Rosa Horneff, presented practical offers through which the LIR supports both individuals and organizations in fostering resilience.
In small-group formats, key topics such as stress, resilience, and protective factors are conveyed in a hands-on manner. The emphasis is placed on how the acquired knowledge can be applied in everyday life to sustainably strengthen health literacy.
In addition, a comprehensive, needs-oriented resilience promotion program was presented, specifically tailored to the needs of employees and leaders. It aims to foster long-term mental health and well-being in professional settings.
A central topic of discussion was how to reach as many people as possible – particularly from the general population – and support them in strengthening their health literacy in an accessible and effective way.
In this context, Carolina Pank introduced the free online training program “resiLIR”: an interactive training program in the form of an educational game that enables users to strengthen their resilience in a playful way. It is particularly noteworthy that, in addition to the version for the general population, a version specifically tailored to healthcare professionals is also available. Both versions are accessible free of charge.
